Dear Sisters in Christ, this is a bit long but may I share something with you? Tomorrow at coming to the table to talk about His table, one of the passages we will be discussing is Luke 10:38-42, the Mary and Martha story.
This Scripture really focuses on what Jesus teaches Martha. Jesus uses Mary as an instrument to teach Martha something about herself. Martha has invited Jesus to her home and she is preparing for a big dinner party. Her sister Mary is there, however, she is sitting at Jesus’ feet, listening to what Jesus is teaching. Martha becomes offended because in her estimation, Mary isn’t doing anything and calls it unfair.
Jesus says to Martha, “Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing to be concerned about, and Mary has discovered it and it will not be taken from her!.”
This morning I’ve been cleaning and preparing for a bridal shower I’m hosting for my niece. As I’m pondering this passage to lead our women’s gathering tomorrow, I took this picture. If you can see, my windows are filthy (a bit hard to discern between glare and filth, but it’s there! I have grand babies and pups).
I started to feel overwhelmed, I’m running out of time and have so much to do! Do I have the time to clean them? If not, is there something else I could sacrifice to make the time?
Sisters, don’t let it be the time you take to sit at the feet of Jesus to learn from Him! Don’t get caught up in such details that you start sacrificing things that are more important, more meaningful.
It’s not that having clean windows is bad, but don’t replace doing it over something that effects your very heart and mind, therefore your character. Becoming more like Jesus is what matters and what is lasting. Your windows will be dirty by tomorrow.

There’s so much more placed on my heart to share about this passage but no more time to share it now! I need to put those pillows in place on that couch with the dirty windows! Don’t you think for a second that didn’t cross my mind to fix them before I even took this picture! Martha is alive and well in me but oh I’m making much more room for my Mary. Happy Saturday my friends! It looks beautiful out there!
